Details About Vitoria

Destinations » South America » South American Coast » Vitoria

A gorgeous small city that will make you feel right at home, Vitoria combines typical Brazilian beach life with great food and a fun neighborhood atmosphere. All over the city you'll find long stretches of beautiful golden sand, begging you to come and relax. Since Vitoria isn't as big a tourist area as other Brazillian cities, this will give you the opportunity to feel like a local - and unwind like one too.

Attractions

Make the trek to the Convento de Penha, atop the Morro de Penha. The climb is worth every step, because once you reach the top, you'll be taking in a spectacular view of the entire city, islands, and bay. You'll feel on top of the world!

Shopping

The shops in town open from 10-8, but close between 2 to 4 for siesta, when the locals eat, nap, or just relax. Most of the places in Vitoria, including museums, are closed on Mondays. You won't find many gift shops for tourists, but you will discover a lot of cool shops that the locals visit daily. Everyone buys bread fresh in the morning, so give it a try - it's delicious!

Currency

The local currency is the Brazilian Real.
